about

Gw Childs Iv and John Fryer feat. Blackcarburning, Vaselyne, Junksista, Johnny Tupolev and Emileigh Rohn

One of the most amazing parts of running a label is working with people that are incredibly talented and capable. Sometimes we can create magic almost instantly.

At the beginning of December, I was chilling on the couch and I had an idea. What if we take a Xmas classic and rework it. I called GW and John and they both were gracious enough to entertain the idea. Over the course of the weekend, they picked “Carol of the Bells” and started to flesh out ideas. The song was carefully chosen because it is upbeat and cheerful and celebrates Christmas without focusing on the religious aspect of it. We wanted to create something inclusive, something that everyone can enjoy, no matter what your system of belief is.

After GW and John made the “demo” I reached out to @mark @yvette @tom @Diana and @emileigh and asked them if they would like to participate. This was December the 15th and they had time to deliver till Sunday the 19th. Needless to say a daunting task and a crazy timeline, but sometimes pressure is a good thing. I could barely contain my excitement as the tracks started to roll in. John had it mixed Sunday night and it sounds glorious!

Never in a million years would I have thought that we would release a Christmas song on COP but here we are. In a lot of ways, this started the season for me. For me, the song conjures up feelings of warmth, joy, and maybe even a simpler time in our lives. I hope you will enjoy it.

But we were not done yet:

I already knew that a bunch of our bands were working on individual offerings for this Christmas and I thought it would be nice to bundle everything and make it a bit of an event. Each of the bands came from a beautiful space; “We want to give people something that will give them a bit of happiness. Times are hard and maybe we can brighten people’s life a little”. I absolutely love that spirit.

A while back I told you that @COP International will end this year on a high note and for the next 7 days, we will give you the beautiful gift of music every day.

I have created the next installment of the Broken Hearts and Robots Parts IV - The Xmas edition on Bandcamp. Right now it has only one track, but we will add one every day till the 26th of December. I have also created a special tap on the COP site where you can listen and download the tracks. You will find both links in the comments.
